Der Augsburger Internationale Violinwettbewerb Leopold Mozart ist Vergangenheit

Nach zehn ausgerichteten Wettbewerben hat der Veranstalter bekannt gegeben, dass der Internationale Violinwettbewerb Leopold Mozart Augsburg 2019 zum letzten Mal stattgefunden hat.

Die Entscheidung, diesen Wettbewerb zu beenden, traf das Leopold-Mozart-Kuratorium mit der Begründung, dass die finanzielle Lage künftige Aktivitäten dieser Art nicht ermöglichen würde. Die Organisation teilte auch mit, dass nur der 300. Geburtstag Leopold Mozarts die Durchführung des Wettbewerbs 2019 noch ermöglichte.
Das Leopold-Mozart-Kuratorium hat auch beschlossen, sein Profil zu ändern, und plant nun das Leopold-Mozart-Zentrum der Universität Augsburg (früher Konservatorium, heute Musikhochschule) stärker zu unterstützen. Das Ziel ist die Unterstützung der lokalen musikalischen Ausbildungseinrichtungen durch finanzielle Förderung von Meisterklassen, Konzerten und anderen studienbegleitenden Aktivitäten.

Der erste Internationale Violinwettbewerb Leopold Mozart fand im Jahr 1987 statt. Über drei Jahrzehnte wurden insgesamt zehn Wettbewerbe veranstaltet. Gewinner waren unter anderem Isabelle Faust, Benjamin Schmid, Lena Neudauer und Joshua Brown.

Das Leopold-Mozart-Kuratorium bedankt sich von Herzen bei allen Beteiligten der zehn Augsburger Violinwettbewerbe, vor allem bei Linus Roth, dem künstlerischen Leiter des 10. Wettbewerbes 2019, aber auch bei allen künstlerischen Leitern, Jurymitgliedern, Künstlern und Teilnehmern seit 1987.

Dieser Wettbewerb wäre ohne die enorme finanzielle und persönliche Unterstützung aller Mitglieder des Leopold-Mozart-Kuratoriums, der öffentlichen Sponsoren (ganz besonderen Dank der Stadt Augsburg), allen privaten Sponsoren und Freunden, sowie allen helfenden Händen in den vergangenen mehr als 30 Jahren nicht möglich gewesen. Augsburg's Leopold Mozart International Violin Competition is discontinued

Augsburg's Leopold Mozart International Violin Competition is discontinued – after ten festivals, the Violin Competition has announced that the 2019 competition was its last.
The decision to end the festival was reached by the Leopold-Mozart-Kuratorium, citing that financial conditions would not enable future activities from taking place. The organization also disclosed that the only reason the 2019 festival was able to be held was due to Leopold Mozart’s 300th birthday.

The Leopold-Mozart-Kuratorium has also decided to change its profile and is now planning to strengthen its support for the Leopold-Mozart-Zentrum, the conservatoire of the University of Augsburg. They are aiming to support the local musical education facilities through giving financial support for master classes, concerts, and other course-related activities.

The first Leopold Mozart International Violin Competition was held in 1987 and celebrated over three decades of music-making. Previous winners of the competition include Isabelle Faust, Benjamin Schmid, Lena Neudauer and Joshua Brown.

The Leopold-Mozart-Kuratorium would like to express their heartfelt thanks to everybody who was involved in the ten editions of the Augsburg Violin Competition. Especially to Linus Roth, who served as artistic director of the 10th Competition in 2019, but also to all other artistic directors, jury members, artists and participants since 1987.

Der 10. Internationale Violinwettbewerb Leopold Mozart hat vom 31. Mai bis 8. Juni 2019 in Augsburg stattgefunden.

Mit dem Wettbewerb ehrten wir Leopold Mozart, der in Augsburg geboren wurde und ein großartiger Lehrmeister seines berühmten Sohnes Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart war. Im Geburtsjahr seines Sohnes hat Leopold Mozart seine bedeutende Violinschule in Augsburg veröffentlicht, die in den letzten Jahren dank der Historischen Aufführungspraxis noch einmal eine Renaissance erlebt hat.

Unsere Vision war es, durch den Internationalen Violinwettbewerb ganz im Sinne von Leopold Mozart enge Verbindungen zur nächsten Generationen von Geigern aufzubauen. Wir danken unseren Mitgliedern und Förderern, deren Großzügigkeit es uns ermöglichte, gemeinsam dieses Ziel zu erreichen.

The 10th International Violin Competition Leopold Mozart was held from 31 May to 8 June 2019 in Augsburg.

The competition was held in honor of Leopold Mozart, who was born in Augsburg and who was an invaluable teacher to his famous son, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The year Wolfgang Amadeus was born, Leopold Mozart published his important Violin School in Augsburg. Thanks to historical performance practice, Leopold Mozart's Violin School has experienced a renaissance in recent years.

In the spirit of Leopold Mozart it was our vision to establish a close link through the international violin competition to the next generation of violinists. Our heartfelt thanks go to our members and sponsors, whose generosity made it possible for us to achieve this goal together.
