ELZBIETA SIKORA: SOLEOS

Die in Lwow (Polen) geborene Elżbieta Sikora studierte Elektronische Musik bei Pierre Schaeffer und Francois Bayle in Paris, Musikkomposition bei Tadeusz Baird und Zbigniew Rudzinski in Warschau und bei Betsy Jolas in Paris. 1973 gründete sie mit W. Michniewski und K. Knittel die Komponistengruppe KEW. Stipendien der französischen Regierung am IRCAM in Paris, der Stadt Mannheim und der Kosciuszko Foundation am CCRMA (Computerzentrum für Musik- und Akustikforschung) in Stanford haben die internationale Perspektive der Komponistin bereichert.

 

Elżbieta Sikoras Arbeiten wurden im Laufe ihres Lebens mit zahlreichen Preisen gewürdigt, darunter Auszeichnungen des Carl Maria von Weber-Komponistenwettbewerbs in Dresden, des Wettbewerbs für Elektroakustische Musik in Bourges, des Komponistenwettbewerbs für Frauen in Mannheim, des französischen Verbands Société des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques und zwei SACEM-Awards.

 

Sikora erhielt die Sonderauszeichnung der Pariser Jury der Académie du Disque Lyrique für Le Chant de Salomon und Eine Rose als Stütze. Für die Oper Madame Curie erhielt sie den Splendor Gedaniensis Award, den Gryf-Pomeranian Arts Award, und den Polish Music Composers’ Union Award. Die Regierung von Polen zeichnete Sikora mit dem Kommandantenkreuz des Verdienstordens der Republik aus, vom französischen Kulturminister erhielt sie den Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

 

Elżbieta Sikora lebt und arbeitet in Paris, Frankreich. Ihr Katalog umfasst mehr als siebzig Werke, darunter drei Opern, drei Ballette, mehrere sinfonische Werke, Kammermusikwerke, elektroakustische Musik und Mixed Music.

In 1973 she founded, with W. Michniewski and K. Knittel the Group of Composers KEW. Scholarships from the French Government at IRCAM, Paris, the City of Mannheim and the Kosciuszko Foundation at CCRMA (Computer Center for Research in Music and Acoustics), Stanford, have enriched the composer’s international outlook.

Throughout her life, Elżbieta Sikora’s work has been recognized with many prizes and awards including, among others, the Carl Maria von Weber Composers’ Competition in Dresden, the Competition of Electroacoustic Music in Bourges, the Women Composers’ Competition in Mannheim, two SACEM awards, and the French Association of Dramatic Authors and Composers Award. Sikora received the Special Distinction of the Paris Jury de l'Académie du Disque Lyrique for Le Chant de Salomon and Eine Rose als Stütze, which were released on a Chant du Monde/Harmonia Mundi CD.

 

For Madame Curie opera she garnered the composer the Splendor Gedaniensis Award, Gryf-Pomeranian Arts Award, and the Polish Music Composers’ Union Award. The Government of Poland decorated Sikora with the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic and she received the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French Minister of Culture.

Elżbieta Sikora lives and works in Paris, France. Her catalog includes more than seventy works among which three operas, three ballets, several symphonic works, chamber music works, electroacoustic and mixed musics.
